 PROGRAMME FOR 2008

14th January          An informal evening to consider Group Visits, our 2008 Exhibition ("The Good, the Bad and the Others") and have an update on progress at St Margaret's Garden.

10th March            Surrey 'Treasures': The Portable Antiquities Scheme in Surrey - David Williams will talk about the "Time Team" dig at Godstone in the context of his work as Finds Liaison Officer with Surrey County Council.

7th July                  Please note that this meeting is on the first Monday of the month as the Community Centre is unavailable on our normal evening.
"Its Where You Sleep That Counts" - Dr Ron Cox will enlighten us about the care of the poor, the homeless and the illegitimate in 19th century Surrey.

8th September       AGM followed by a talk (details to be advised in due course)

10th November     Lingfield & Tandridge Hundred at the time of Domesday – Patrick Molineux will give us a view of the area in the late 11th century.

As you will have noticed, we do not have a speaker in January.  This will allow time for members who have been on recent Group Visits to give a brief resumé of those visits, following which Mavis Priestley will give details, including dates and costs, of the forthcoming trips which include visits to Chattley Heath/Painshill and Fishbourne/Boxgrove Priory - book early to avoid disappointment!  Mavis also has several other ideas for future visits and it is hoped that as many of you as possible will take this opportunity to put forward your suggestions and have your say.
